May all the angels sit at the edge of their seats when you take the Heavenly Podium, and when you raise your baton, and they raise their instruments to their lips, I know Heaven will sound all the sweeter when you call for the first note. Save a spot for me, sir, so I may have the pleasure of joining that blessed chorus.

Dr. Robert Lawrence put his all into everything he did. When I think of him I think of how he taught music and how much he loved his family. Mike and I enjoyed his friendship over the years at Clarke Central and stayed in touch. We are greatly saddened by his death but comforted that he is in heaven.

A real class act. I was thinking back to all the years I had known Mr. Lawrence. It had been about 30 years starting at Satilla Elementary. He was the 5th and 6th grade band teacher and he did it well. Everybody loved and respected Mr. Lawrence.

Dr. Lawrence will truly be missed. He was instrumental in transitioning my oldest son from homeschooling to public school. I saw first hand how much he loved his band students (including my own 2!) at Clarke Central High School. He truly made it like family. I also will always be grateful to him for the way he worked with the Band Boosters at CCHS. Prayers for comfort and peace for his wife, Mary and the rest of his family. "But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep." 1 Thessalonians 4:13 -14

Thanks be to our Lord Jesus Christ that we had the opportunity to share in a small part of Dr. Bobby Lawrence's life during our formative years at Lanett High (Class of 76). How well do I remember your leadership abilities. Such a spirit of excellence exhibited as you walked among your peers. May the legacy you created be everlasting in the hearts of your love ones. You have finished your race. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Bobby Lawrence was one of the most influential people in my life. I was an awkward, pimply 13-year-old when I had the crazy notion to try out to be drum major of my junior high school band. Bobby was 17 and was drum major at our rival high school, and he was phenomenal. My parents hired him to teach me, and when I made drum major he helped design my first uniform. In those lessons with Bobby in our basement, I learned more than just how to make a 4/4 pattern pop and how to strut with style. I learned about leadership and I gained confidence, lessons have influenced everything I have done since, whether leading a band, an organization, or a family. To watch Bobby conduct was a thing of beauty. To know him was an inspiration. RIP, my dear mentor.
